 Yeah…. we got beat by the team bottom of the league and who have only won once this season. Frontline deserved the victory and we were quite simply, shocking. There really aren’t many positives to take from this with the exception of Gaz’s two goals and another MOTM for his collection, not that competition for that particular award was great. I am too embarrassed and gutted to be bothered writing about this shambolic Saturday morning performance. Watching Seal clubbing is probably more fun.

 3-2 to Frontline. Jacobs can go home and lick their wounds and hopefully try to play with some pride and fight next week.

Another crushing defeat that I can’t be arsed writing about. A second half capitulation and drop of heads resulted in a second half thumping. This was especially disappointing considering it was a team we deservedly beat just a few short weeks ago.

Roll on the next game so we can put things right.

Apparently Nath has retired from writing match reports and because I was not present there will not be one as I haven’t got a clue what happened apart from James J buggered his ankle, Gaz scored a tap in and their keeper had a moment of horror. 7-2 to St. Peters.

With various injuries and absentees, Jacobs were forced into a formation change for this game. An abundance of attacking options and only 3 fit midfielders meant that 4-3-3 was the way forward.

After 8 months of training and matches playing the tried and trusted 4-4-2 the opening 15 minutes of this match saw Jacobs trying to adjust to the new system. Skem played lots of neat and tidy football and dominated possession without really doing much with it. The turning point of the match came when club skipper and general mouth almighty, Gilly, was fouled and received some nasty looking stud marks to his ankle. This seemed to wake Jacobs up.

The first half was a war of attrition with chances few and far between. Jacobs battled well and started playing to their enforced attribute, strength. The big and strong strike force of James G, Nails and Gaz started bullying and harassing the defenders. After an indifferent opening Nails suddenly seemed unbeatable in the air and won flick on after flick on, Gaz and James pursued each one doggedly.

The only real piece of action came from a Skem corner. The Skem player rose well and powered a header goal wards, The Cat flew low to his right and majestically tipped it wide. Half time 0-0.

The second half began as the first ended but with Jacobs beginning to take command and creating a few half chances with some nice one touch passing. After about 10 minutes of the second half James G was forced off with a thigh problem and replaced by top goalscorer Craig.

Some excellent possession and passing between Spud and Gill released Gaz down the Skem right, looking up he saw Nails bombing in at the back post and he whipped in a pinpoint left footed cross which Nails headed home emphatically. 1-0.

So used to winning games, Skem seemed dumbfounded by this fully deserved Jacobs lead. It wasn’t long until they fell further behind. A quick freekick from the ever alert Gill sent Craig through on goal, and with his goal scoring record this season there was only ever one outcome. He slotted it delightfully into the bottom corner. 2-0.

Skem tried to up the tempo and bossed alot of the possession after the second goal. However they were met with stubborn resistance from the Jacobs defence, marshalled by the excellent Si. Things got even better for Jacobs. A scramble from a corner fell to Spud, his goal bound effort was blocked by a defender and fell to the fox in the box, Craig, who made light work of smashing it in from 6 yards. 3-0.

The shattered but impressive Nails made way for Dwood and Craig was forced off before being able to claim his hat trick and replaced by AJ. Skem huffed and puffed for the final few minutes of the game but were unable to create any chances. Full time 3-0.

It was an excellent Jacobs performance with every single player involved battling hard. The result and the score line was fully deserved but credit has to go to the defence who were excellent throughout and gave The Cat a quiet morning allowing him to collect his first clean sheet of the season.

After an excruciating absence of 2 months the football season resumed. Everyone was looking in tip top condition, probably something to do with AJ’s punishing fitness regime. 

From the off Jacobs looked sharp. The constant 2 touch training was paying dividends and combined with a decent playing surface Jacobs took control. With AJ’s nuclear powered limitless energy and Gill’s guile (and mouth) Jacobs pressed West Derby.

DISASTER! After bossing the opening encounters Jacobs found themselves undone by that elusive trait, pace. 0-1 DIASTER #2! While ballooning a shot towards the nearby burger van (which Nath strangely volunteered to get) AJ felt his thigh go. Enter Mr. C. Jackson.

Within minutes Jacobs were level. Some sexy one touch passing between Gill and Gaz allowed Gill to burst into the West Derby box, he calmly squared it to Craig who slotted it into the bottom corner. 1-1.

If it weren’t for some (inhales helium) “Terrible” offside decisions Jacobs would’ve been 2-1 up after some good play from Gaz. It wasn’t to be. Half-time 1-1

After the interval Jacobs picked up where they had left off. Within a few minutes they had the lead. Gaz expertly controlled the ball from a throw in and held the defender off long enough to slip it to Craig who then beat the keeper with a neat near post finish. 2-1

It should’ve been 3-1 not long after. After a scramble in the penalty area the ball dropped at Spud’s feet and somehow he managed to scuff his shot wide. Minutes later West Derby were level and then in front. Both goals were the same as the first, pace. Good finishes though.

Nath, Benn and Austin made way as Jamey, James J and Richie entered the fray. Jacobs continued to battle and with time running out Ross was fouled on the right wing. Dusting himself off he whipped in a delicious freekick and Si leapt like a salmon and hammered in the equaliser on the stroke of full time. No less than was deserved.
